Neil's Note March 2009
It's all been happening. My little girl is crawling and trying to stand up, West Ham are falling over and I seem to be spending more time in Toa Payoh than I did when i actually lived there. In the first week of April, I will be back in Singapore for a corporate thing and I'll be showing off the central character of Be My Baby (albeit an unborn one at the time) to all my dear friends on the sunny island. I'll also be planting some trees in Toa Payoh Town Garden (three actually, one for me, my wife and the little one), thanks to NParks, and popping into some bookstores to sign more books. Be My Baby has been reprinted, due to demand in Singapore and Malaysia, so thanks for that. I could kiss each and every one of you. I am also well pleased to be involved with the Singapore National Library Board's 10,000 FATHERS READING! campaign. On Saturday, 4 April, I will pop by Jurong West Public Library in the morning and then Bishan Public Library in the afternoon to get involved with some of the father/child reading activities. My own little girl might put in a guest appearance, too. All the details can be found at any of the NLB libraries or on the website at: http://10000fathers.nlb.gov.sg Have a nose. The 10,000 Fathers Reading! campaign really is a marvellous idea. I read Four Four Two magazine to my little girl all the time. In March 2009, Be My Baby will be launched in Australia nationwide, thanks to those wonderful people at Penguin Australia. They will distribute both Be My Baby and Complete Notes From Singapore across the country, which I'm well chuffed about. So for those of you who ask me when Be My Baby is popping up Down Under, fret no more. It's here. Best of all, I've just been asked to write a regular column for a fantastic West Ham magazine called EX, which is sold around the ground, London and online (www.ex-hammers.com). It's a great retro mag, interviews all the old greats who i grew up with. I still can't believe they've asked me to write a column. The mag comes out four times a year. And you can sign up for it anywhere in the world! So get on to www.ex-hammers.com. Finally, if all goes to plan, I pop over to England for the first time since 2005 to show my little girl off and hopefully watch the Hammers lose a few games at Upton Park. And buy some copies of EX Magazine. Before then, hope to see some of you soon around the Singapore/Oz bookstores or at the NLB events. Toodle pip |

Hello there
